Getting my sewing groove back...

I actually, like, sewed today. :-p
Although I didn't actually SEW, as in pulling thread through fabric with a needle. I more thought very hard and cut stuff out and ironed and frey checked.
So yeah, now that's it's officially Christmas break (insert obligatory happy dance) and I had over twelve hours of sleep last night, the first thing I did after thoroughly cleaning my room was to pull out ye olde Violet Baudelaire skirt. I got all the organza panels cut out and ironed and frey checked (frey blocked actually...silly brand names) before taking a long bath and leaving for work. And you know what? I have been keeping a little tally of all the hours I've spend on this project, and as of now I've spent 29 hours on it. This is spread over a whole YEAR. And the really sad part? 29 hours is about half the time I spend making that headdress for metals, and I did it in a week. A week! Granted, I got almost no sleep, and kind of went completely out of my mind for a while, but the point remains. If I can stay fully motivated, I ought to have no (or very little) trouble getting Violet done before the end of NaCoFiMo. And besides, it HAS been a full year now since I started the dress...

Date: 2006-12-15 03:29 am (UTC)So. Weekend. It looks like I probably won't be working this Sat after all, but will work the 23rd instead. So, if you're working in the morning, maybe you could just head on up to my place afterwards in your own good time. We could sew all evening and then go to church in the morning and sew Sun afternoon... aaand I was actually wondering if it was at all possible for you to bring your serger with you (dunno if it's very portable).
