I would dearly like to be un-tired and stay up half the night getting stuff done. Every time I start to think about how much I have to do in (less than) two weeks, I start to freak out a little bit. And then I get a headache and want to go straight to bed, which means my evenings are generally extreemly unproductive. My advice to myself (and apparently to everyone else who wanted my advice on anything today) is to simply not think about it. I tend to overthink things anyway, and I believe my peace of mind (and probably my art) could be greatly improved by not thinking so hard.

And now to counteract my anti-thinking stance, I must needs make a list of everything I have to do in (less than) two weeks:

~Etch and print aquatint
~Make and print two woodcuts
~Print an edition
~Make any other print of my choice (and then actually print the thing)
~Make Death Doll. So far it isn't beyond the sketching stage...yeah...I should start molding it tonight probably
~Make mixed media metals project. This is the Star Wars inspired headdress, and I starting sawing my metal tomorrow morning.
~Write Play response for Autumn in the Valley
~Write Book Review
~Write short paper on the reliquary project in metals
~Memorize and stage my scene
~Make mask for make-up

I think I should turn off my brain, make some tea, and get cracking. I just need to convince myself that I really don't want to sleep...that bed isn't really as comfy as it looks.

I'm lousy at lying to myself.

It was WHEN I wrote the schedual that I started to get really worried...I just have to step back and prioritise, then take one thing at a time and forget about the other stuff for the moment. Or maybe just think of it in one day bits...like, "today I have to finish and print my aquatint and finish carving out my woodcut." and then I won't let myself consider everything else until tomorrow. The problem is really that I'm terrible at following my own advice.

You would be completely right...except for one thing.

When I said "about" two weeks, that was wishful thinking. Everything but the doll is due on the last day of class (before finals week), which means everything besides the doll has to be done by next Wed or Thur. This means that I actually have one week...I obviously wasn't thinking clearly last night.

I really appreciate your comment though! And you are right, I do need to prioritize.

*grins* I can sit down this weekend and do it all in one great, huge 72 straight hour sitting. However, I would like to get a bit of sleep in...maybe. Fortunately, I don't have to work this Sat.

As the others have said, take one thing at a time. A week is a long time if you don't panic and put your mind to it. Panic will equal thinking you need to do everything at once, then leaving you with everything half done, and generally in a poor condition at best.

The other alternative is to group the things into two catagories: easy/quick, and hard/tedious. Pair up one easy and hard. Start on the hard. If you get stuck or tired of it, swap to the easy thing to get your mind clear. Finish the easy thing, and you will have subconsciously prepared yourself to tackle the hard thing again.

Best of luck in getting it all done!
