I've always seen images in our carpet in the living room...it's a bit shaggy, and a bit old, and the patterns caused by the fibers clumping in different directions are always something interesting. I've seen fairies and horse heads and letters and birds and faces in the carpet, and today I saw a dancing figure in a long skirt and what was undoubtably a militaristic doublet. I know it's really just my subconsious projecting whatever's floating around in my head onto a handy surface, but it was so clear! And it was all lines formed from clumps of carpet shag. 

My brother and were were subjected to a dreadful form of torture this morning. My mom got us up early to go pick strawberries. Now, I will admit I enjoy eating strawberries (as does Misty...what normal cat likes berries?) but I hate picking them. It's not just because I'm lazy either...I get an ichy rash from the strawberry leaves all over the backs of my hands and wrists and wherever my arms touched the plants. Not to mention that in the morning the plants are covered with dew and my knees all wet from the damp hay on the ground. But I survived, and the cat shared a fresh strawberry slushy dessert with me, and all it well....until next June.

I would endure the strawberry picking just for the taste of delicious, fresh, homegrown strawberrys. Im a country girl at heart. :)

That's funny... my mother was just complaining to me today about her childhood and the quarts and quarts of strawberries she picked for days on end. (And of course to get there she had to walk uphill in the snow...)

Picking strawberries IS miserable...especially when one is allergic to the strawberry leaves. If you have never had to suffer in the blazing hot sun slaving away filling box upon box with berries, then count yourself lucky.
Though I should say that I really only hate picking them becuase of said allergy...I really like picking blueberries and cherries.
