I'm feeling particularily inspired tonight. And smug. I don't know why really...I was browsing around through my favorite costumer's sites, and was filled with a feeling of superiority. Not over them, good heavens no! (I wouldn't dream of thinking myself better than goddesses like Surliegirlie and Jen Thompson) No, I found myself feeling privilaged to be part of a small group of humanity who costumes, and does it well. It also might spring from the fact that I was also poking around SCA sites and saw lots of pictures of the most godawful garb ever. It's refreashing to know that there are a decent number of people who CAN sew, and it's even more cheering to know that I'm one of them.

On the other hand, it's times like these I wish I could speed the future into now. Most of the things I've made were on my major learning curve, and I would really like to have a decent number of garments that I have made to the best of my abilities. Right now they are mostly in the future. It's like art I suppose...just about everything I've ever done I don't really care for any more because I know I can do much better now. I guess I should hope to never be perfectlly happy with anything, because then I'll think I have nothing else to learn and will cease to improve. I shall be content to pick at all the flaws in my art (and sewing).

Tonight whilst I was brushing my teeth I was looking in the mirror at my hair and thinking about how it will be long enough to put up for Bristol, and I was happy because then I would look canon. Then I realised I had thought 'canon' and not 'period'. Then I knew I had been reading too much fanfic. ("But you knew that already!" cries the world. To which I reply most eloquently, "ptht")

hi! I found you through someone else's lj, and I hope you don't mind that I've friended you :)

I understand what you mean about costumes being made on a learning curve. I feel like whenever I actually finish my current projects, I look bad at them and think, "wow, those are terrible". but hey, at least you have them :)

No, don't mind at all! I always like new friends, especially costume inclined ones. ;-)
