whining...

I feel like I've said this before, but do you think things could go well for any decent length of time for me? Just maybe I could go a couple weeks without something depressing or disgusting happening...maybe? I doubt it. Been in two fender benders since break started. Surely that would be enough, no? No. My right ear (piercing) developed an infection yesterday and swelled up a little, and this morning it hurt like crazy. Horrible. So I cleaned it and over the course of the day it gradually started feeling better. Tonight I went to clean it again, and discovered the swelling was much, much worse. Sometime today or last night it swelled around the back of the earring, and my ear has swollowed half of the scroll back. I took out the other earring just in case it too decided to be nasty (it was pretty much fine though, thank heavens) and with my Dad's help (and the aid of some computer fixing tweezers which were able to grip what's there of the earring back) got the main earring out, but half of the back is in my ear. IN my ear. I used to have horrible nightmares as a child about foriegn objects under my skin. Anyway, we can't possibly get it out with no local anisthetic without causing me horrible pain, and because by the time we got the earring itself out it was 1:30am already we decided I'd go to our doctor first thing tomorrow morning to have him numb up my ear and get the back out. Fortunately with the earring itself out of my ear it doesn't hurt near as much, not at all really. But then I stop to think I have a piece of metal stuck in the back of my right ear and I get all quivery inside. This sucks. And I have to work seven hours tomorrow. Gah.
The weird thing is, I haven't done anything to my earrings since putting them in right after the wedding, which was almost two weeks ago. And suddenly it gets infected...I know that six weeks after getting them pierced was quite soon to be wearing dangly earrings (even though they were posts) and those probably did some damage, making my ears have to heal a bit...but still, almost two weeks since that. Again, gah.
I'll just let the holes close up I think though...and maybe get my ears pierced again in a year or so. Only if I ever do get them pierced again I'm definately getting pure gold and not taking them out for at least two months. This I do solemnly swear.

Date: 2005-12-30 08:27 am (UTC)And sometimes ears are stupid and get spontaneously infected. Or, like someone already said, you might have a small metal allergy. I used to wear a pair of my mom's earrings that would make my ears just in agony after a day at school and since I was in like, third grade, I didn't know about nickel allergies and stuff. Sigh.
I hope you feel better really soon! :)
