On Yesterday

Katie (rvqavalon ) came to my place yesterday afternoon and we sewed and talked all through the evening. It was really wonderful actually, having someone else there who's doing the same mindnumbing sewing tasks you are and who understands things like the evilness of hemming. We got laughing so badly though....she was giving me all these crazy compliments on my costumes and I was getting more and more flustered, and yeah. We laughed. A lot. And it actually motivated me to work straight through and not take extensive breaks every time I finished a thread (I was handsewing). I painted the stripes of one leg of my Slytherin tracksuit, and I finished my partlet, and sewed down my hook and eye tape for my 'bethan. I can't stand sewing indevidual hooks and eyes...they drive me crazy! Katie was working on her regency corset....boning channels. Not terribly exciting, but necessary. So it was a good thing we were there to encourage one another. I just wish more costumers were in the area so we could have proper sewing evenings and whatnot. I suppose I could join the SCA to meet more...but I don't have a car. Same old story.

Now that you have a car, have you thought about joining a SCA group?

The thing is, I have a liscense, but the car isn't mine. It's a family car. So I have to make sure I don't do anything that would conflict with the family schedual...I am thinking about it though...and it sounds awesome.

So, it's March 14, 2009 and I'm going through your archives while sitting alone at my new apartment with plans to see you tomorrow. I'm really glad we've come so far since you posted this.

Although I still haven't replaced that corset I made that day. So maybe we still have a ways to go. ;)
