Feb. 23rd, 2007 05:52 pmThere's be sunshine on and off for the past week now! It's so amazing to wake up and see a bit of blue through the skylight, and then to step into the kitchen and see a bright ray of light streaming across the floor. I had no idea how uninspired and depressed the winter had made me, until we finally got a hint that spring might be coming and something woke up inside me again. Ever since the weather improved (it's in the 30's now and sometimes reaches above 40! A bit sad that that's so exciting...) I've been ignoring the computer (mostly), playing the piano waaay more than I actually have time for, reading books that AREN'T for school, and even sewing. Yes. Sewing.
I'm finally making myself some 18th century stays...after watching Marie Antoinette there really wasn't any way I could avoid starting 18th cen stuff. I've always loved the 1780's, and the black and white Sleepy Hollow dress is on my to-do list after Violet Baudelaire (and will probably be done before), so yeah. That's what's happening.
The down side to all of this is that everything I really WANT to do takes time away from homework... Illustration is really the only class that I'm motivated for. Luckily, spring break is week after next, and I'll be able to sleep in and read and sew to my heart's delight...and probably work on intermediate drawing...I have a sneaky feeling that I'll be completely screwed if I don't do a little class work over break. Ah well.
Speaking of which, I should get back to drawing...I have all my stuff set up in the figure painting room and really just came to the lab to take a break. It's actually really nice in there though...lots of windows means lots of sunlight, and I'm the only one in there so it's really peaceful and I had the Amelie soundtrack playing and if it wasn't homework I'm doing it would be quiet idyllic.
