(no subject)

Something nearly unprecedented happened yesterday afternoon.

I took a nap.

Normally I can never ever sleep during the day unless I'm terribly ill...but I lay down yesterday next to the cat and in a fit of boredom, fell asleep. Maybe my body knows that school is sneaking up and I need to get in all the sleep I can ahead of time...or something.

In my mission against the overuse of the word cute, I made a bag this weekend. I needed a new one for school, and thought this would  be an excellent opportunity to try to make something that no one could call cute. At work, everyone who sees what I have made calls it cute...the aprons, the Queen of Hearts doll dress, the hats, the dress in the window, MY baby-head dress...but not this bag. No, I have had people call it cool, beautiful, scary, and horrid, but no one has called it cute. I'm very pleased...

It's insane that there's no summer left. I still really badly want to have the Sleepy Hollow or the Violet dress done yet this year. I was thinking that since my make-up class won't start until Oct, I might have enough time (what with only working every other Sat) to get Stuff Done. Quite frankly, I am far more confident the the Sleepy Hollow dress will be made than the Violet dress...I love that project, but it has become incredibly long term, and I can't see myself as applied to it as something else. Besides, it truly is the most complicated costume ever...S.H. is far more straight forward.
