I finished the fronticepiece last night! I followed [livejournal.com profile] padawansguide 's suggestion of using grey watercolor to tone down the lace, and I think it worked beautifully!!! Now that that's done, I really should get cracking on those folders if I also want to have two jumpsuits by the end of the week...it's so nice being busy with what I want to do!

I don't know what's happening to my costume tastes! I started out with a regency dress and grand ideas for an entire regency ensemble but in a matter of weeks dropped that and took up LotR, plotting how to make most of the costumes therein. But then I discovered the renaissance and all the wonderful garb the online goddesses have made, and all I wanted out of life was to be like them (Jen Thompson, Marie Chantal, Sarah (mode historique), etc) So I spent hours researching styles and eras I liked and basicly had my future all planned out, I'd join the SCA and have an overflowing renaissance wardrobe. *sigh* But then I had to make another regency gown for a party my friend and I put together, and the complete regency wardrobe idea came back, and then I stumbled across Padawan's Guide, and thought, 'oh, that's nice'. However, I kept going back to it again and again, even though I KNEW I would never make a Star Wars costume. I kept thinking about it, and going to all these website of SW costumers until I before I knew it I had unconciously taken it for granted I'd make some too! And now all I really dream about are movie costumes, with a occasional ren outfit for faire, but I still kinda want to join the SCA, yet I can't stick to one thing!!!

That little shpeel had no real point, but I'm not sure if I should try to find one thing I REALLY like and stick to it, or jump all over the place and flit about like a drucken moth. For instance, I also harbor grand plans for some cotehardies and pre-raphaelite inspired dresses. Is this normal for most costumers? I mean, I want to make EVERYTHING!

PS. Let's not forget I 'need' some Titanic era dresses, some bustle era, a mid 1700's dress and a civil war dress. :p
