I hate ants

I had my magic moment today. That first time you try on an unfinished costume and you get a flash of what it'll really be like to wear the completed thing and be the person you're pretending to be and live in that world they lived in. I finished the shirt of Padmé Packing this evening (buttons aside), and tried it on with the skirt and draped my black velvet over my shoulder and held up the fronticepiece and I could SEE it!!! And that, my friends, is the reason I sew costumes. I hate to copy, but L.M. Montgomery had it right in the Emily books when she spoke of 'the flash'. A brief moment when the world stops and the beauty of another world seems a part of this one. I really can't decribe it...and there are other things that can cause the flash, but it almost always comes at least once with a new costume.

But really. Ants scrabbling around on the kitchen counter can put a damper on even the blithest of moods.

*grins* I'll do my best to oblige, but the camara has been misplaced. As soon as I find it I'll take a picture or two. Lol, not much good in finally having a digital camara in the house if it's always lost!!!

yes! yes! The Flash! Thats what I remember the most from those books. Isn't that first moment when a costume starts looking like something so fun? I had that today with my padme skirt. hee.

Yay! An Emily reader!!! Out of all LMM's characters, I felt the most affinity for her...except in Emily's Quest, I just wanted to shake her and shout 'silly girl! You love Teddy and you know it!'

And I turn Katie's 'demand' around and direct it at you. I want pictures of how your Padmé costume is coming too!
