Little dose of reality

All right. So this is the way it is. I'm not going to make a ball gown for the Rememberence Day event.
It came down to choosing between "real" clothes and a big fancy dress for my hobby. When I realised that I was seriously considering making a ball gown in spite of having next to no clothes for my day to day life (for instance, I only have one pair of jeans... and they're hand-me-downs from my sister which I've worn for a couple years already) I was a little appalled. Yes, I love costuming and reenacting, but I can't let it totally rule my life. I need to look presentable in the 21st century before even thinking about looking good in the 19th.
I have some early birthday money from my grandfather, and instead of ordering silk and lace, I'm heading to the mall and injecting some life into my normal wardrobe.
I'll just farb it up in my 1840 dress for the entire event, and try to not care about wearing a day dress to a ball.
