gwendolyngreySo my internet access is really REALLY spotty these days... I have to make a special trip to the library or campus to use a computer, and then when I do manage to get online, I spend all my time catching up on email and my f-list and research and hunting for a new apartment etc.
The first exciting thing that has happened since I posted last is that I actually have gainful employment within my field!!! It's not a JOB job, but for the rest of the year I'll be working with my illustration prof, Ed, on a mural for a cultural center/ museum in Baton Rouge, LA. To start off I'll be helping with photo-shoots, and then actually working on the mural... drawing and blocking in. Right now I'm painting a style study for Ed so that he can see how closely I can match his style. Ideally he would like me to be able to actually finish sections of the mural, provided, of course, that my painting looks exactly like his. Anyway, it's real money for real art. I'm quite thrilled... if nothing else, it means that I don't have to get a soul-crushing second summer part-time job.
I've been sewing a lot recently, mostly on Rebekah's Irish dance dress. The bodice is completely finished, and I'm starting the skirt today. I know, I know... pictures, or it didn't happen. Well, I'm borrowing my parent's camera later today, so hopefully I'll get evidence. I've never appliqued so much in my life as for this project! Good times...
