Life sometimes has an interesting way of going completely against one's expectations, and sometimes it can be for the good.

At the end of the first week of classes, I'm left sitting here with the totally unexpected sensation of actually enjoying school.  Heaven help me, I LIKE all of my classes.  Last school year was depressing... both semesters having their own sets of evil pitfalls... and I was subconciously expecting this semester to follow that same pattern.  But no!  I have interesting professors, a broad scope of subjects to hold my interest, and a renewed passion for my own work.

I suppose it would be difficult to go wrong when you have these classes:  Exploring American Music (taught by an incredible guitarist from Buenos Aires and in which we listen to music and go over basic music theory), Intro to Archaeology, Portfolio (the prof wants us to put together portfolios and create new work that will best serve our intended efforts immediately following graduation... he doesn't want us to do work for "art school" but for "real life" instead.  So refreshing.), Capstone, and Ballroom Dance.  There is something about knowing I'm getting school credit for spending a couple hours a week swing dancing that just makes me want to smirk at the world.  We'll be learning a LOT of dances, and I'm really looking forward to it all.

It's all kind of wierding me out a little though.  I was so prepared to feel oppressed and hateful about being back in school, that feeling inspired and enthralled instead has left me rather disoriented.

Here's hoping the bottom doesn't drop out!
