gwendolyngrey: (Anne)
My morning (and early afternoon) has been pleasantly spent making and fitting a muslin for a new Regency corset.  While it's nice to finally be able to make something for myself again, I'm finding it terribly difficult to settle on ONE idea for my corset.  I don't want to do cording... no, I really DO want cording... the seams should go here and the seams should go there... I should have a wide gap in the back, then it should be narrow.

At the moment, I have a well fitting muslin, and have told myself firmly that I am sticking to the current seam placement.  Now I just have to finalize the cording layout... I have a fairly good idea of what I want though, and I'll try very hard not to let my imagination run away with itself.

My family isn't getting together until tomorrow, so I have the whole day and the empty apartment to myself.  Hopefully I'll be able to stay motivated and get a lot accomplished today.  The plan is to finish Beky's present, work on KatieJacob's present, cut out the "real" fabric for my Regency corset, and start work on Rebekah's dance dress.  We'll see how that works out!

The year has not quite come to a close, but it's close enough that I thought I'd follow [personal profile] padawansguide's example and do the 'What I wanted to sew this year and really did instead and what the plan is for the year to come' list/review.

Late last December I listed what I wanted to do during 2007:
~Finish Violet Baudelaire. HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! What a silly idea!
~Sleepy Hollow. Check!
~Finish modern coat. I didn't even scratch this surface.
~And... you know what? I'm going to make whatever else I feel like. That statement was definitely a cop-out.

To be honest, 2007 wasn't a very productive year in terms of sewing.  I blame several things... my trip to England, intense semesters, a social life, etc, etc... blah blah.
I finished:
~ Nun+Princess=Librarian: my intermediate drawing dress
~ Basic Slytherin school uniform
~ 18th Cen. Stays
~ Striped Sleepy Hollow Dress
~ Not-Very-Historical going to Bristol outfit for Rebekah

Worked on but not finished:
~ Violet Baudelaire STILL
~ Tsugiri from Alichino
~ Regency corset
~ Solo Irish dance dress

And here's what I would like to do in 2008, some of these things are absolutely imperative:
~ Finish Regency corset
~ 1820 blue taffeta evening gown
~ Solo Irish dance dress
~ Four costumes for my senior project, fairytale designs but very late Elizabethan flavored:
    ~Maiden
    ~Prince
    ~King
    ~Queen
~Finish HP Slytherin School Uniform (ie. robe and sweater)
~Tsugiri from Alichino
~And please dear Lord let me finish Violet Baudelaire!
