art-y thoughts....
Dec. 26th, 2006 06:10 pmMy immediate family doesn't exchange gifts until New Years (blame the regulative principle) so I don't have an over-abundance of gifts (small extended family in the country...very small), BUT, one thing I did get was the book, The Saddest Place on Earth: the Art of Camille Rose Garcia, and I've been completely re-inspired to paint and to try all sorts of new styles. Considering that school has barely been out for two weeks (not even that) this is a Very Good Thing. It means that I wasn't creatively burnt out this semester, and I won't have to fish for ideas and inspiration for Adv. Illustration next semester. I had already been planning on using the dolls I made this past semester, and sticking with the same story, The Wedding Veil of the Proud Princess, build a scene box or two and use them as the "models" for paintings and maybe some digital art. I'll have the whole semester to work on this one big project, and I'm really looking forward to it. t
And right now I really, really want to sew, and I WISH my Mom would hurry up and finish Rob's present so I can take the sewing machine back. There are times when I truly hate sharing.
Or, I could straighten the pillers on the painting I did for illustration in Oct, so that it'll be as perfect as I can possibly make it before entering it in the Society of Illustrators soon. Ed is paying the entry fee for two pieces from each of his students, and I'm entering that oil painting (which I still need to post pictures of) and both dolls. Juniors very, very rarely place, so I'm not counting on anything, but it WOULD be so awesome to be accepted to the Society of Illustrators. Ed seems to have faith in me, but considering that thousands of art students from all over the country enter and only 125 pieces are chosen, I am definately not expecting to win anything. Just.........hoping.
