I have a real, live corset!!!

I feel like running around in circles like a spastic dog squeeling "it'sdoneit'sdoneit'sdoneit's DONE!!!!" All it took was a firm taking hold of the WWKD mentallity, and I was able to bind all the eyelets today and finish the corset!!! I feel like a weight has been taken off my shoulders, and it's wonderful to finally have proper Elizabethan underwear...and it fits well after all...even the shoulders (okay, so it doesn't meet perfectly at the bustline, you know what? At this point I don't care!) I will admit I LOVE how the shoulder straps work, they're tight without impeding my movement at ALL. Not to mention the sheer awesomeness of wearing a red silk corset....
I still think it took me a rediculously long time to make it though. I guess I'll just have to accept that even though I can draw and paint quickly, that doesn't transfer to sewing.
Oh, and the shoulder straps aren't really that skinny, you can see on the body that the binding is cream, and the light I had made it blend in with the shirt at the shoulders.


Then I wanted to try wearing something over it, but without a doublet made yet the best I could do was

And I have decided to buy an easel with my next paycheck. I've been feeling the lack of one keenly this summer, and with several paintings I have to do for people, it'll be really nice to have. I don't really like having to spend that much, but if I consider it as a type of investment for the future, it won't seem so bad.
