Creativity and Thoughts
Feb. 24th, 2006 09:57 pmWarm up the wind and throw it in my face. Then I'll really feel alive.
The Chicago trip this past Tue was the best one yet...not because of the city itself, but because of the people I was with. The sun was shining, I was inspired by some of the best paintings that exist, I bought books, bubbles were blown walking down the streets, and Mike stole the menu and silverwear from the restaurant we had lunch at. And on the drive home we had the most amazing conversation covering everything from sibling relationships and childhood behaviors and oddities to suicide, the difficulties of combining an art career and a family, genetics, and the purpose of life in general. It was all highly satisfying.
And then I came home with a head FULL of new ideas! Right now I'm in the middle of making a dress I'll wear for my painting final project (it's a bit doll-like and rather short-skirted, childish, and lacey). Then tonight I started making a doll which I intend to photograph and use for the photoshop project coming up next in illustration. And it's So Fun! I took my mannaquin I had bought for life-drawing last semester (and had no idea what I was ever going to use it for) and I whittled it out a proper head with the elegant long neck I like to give my abstracted figures, and I took off the arms and fashioned new ones that....well, you'll all see it when it's done. It's painted stark white, and the dress will reference the Sleepy Hollow B+W dress, only more...creepy. I can't wait to finish it!
