I'm starting to get excited about making a 1920 dress for the President's Ball here at GV. I already had most of the fabric I needed, and after getting the contrast fabric and beady dangly things at work on Sat, I have everything I need, and it only cost me $16! I love cheap projects. Cheap, easy projects that have great potential to look good. I have just under a month to make this, so it should all go well. The ball is a 20's theme, but I really don't think the flapper look that most people will probably wear is very flattering on anyone, and I really love the 'teens, so I'm compromising by taking my inspiration from a pattern picture from 1920...best of both worlds in that year. Still has shape, but the cut is fairly simple, and it's technically in the 20's so it all works.

I just discovered a great poem by Lewis Carroll, The Hunting of the Snark. The title made me laugh, and the poem itself makes me laugh....oddly enough, the only poetry I have commited to memory is by Lewis Carroll (and half of the Lady of Shallot by Tennyson). In fact, the only poem I know in it's entirety is The Jabberwocky. 'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves etc. etc. Good stuff.

I'm mildly scared by the astonishing lack of homework this weekend. Normally, I always feel guilty on weekends for not doing homework that I know I'll stay up late doing Sunday night. I was feeling that way this weekend, and kept checking and double checking my planner in case I had made a mistake...but no mistake. I had next to no homework. I wonder if that means this will be a much easier semester than the last, or if I'll be working doubly hard in a few weeks. Who knows. And I <3 my mythology prof.
